According to a newspaper report, US investigators have found evidence of tax fraud by US President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter. A prosecutor must now decide whether to prosecute, the Washington Post reported on Thursday. According to their own statements, the investigators also found evidence that Hunter Biden had made false statements in connection with the purchase of a weapon in 2018.

Hunter Biden, 52, said in December 2020 that he had been informed that “tax matters” were being investigated against him. The lawyer and lobbyist emphasized that he had nothing to blame himself for. The investigation is being led by federal prosecutors in the state of Delaware, where the Biden family lives.

In the presidential election campaign, Joe Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, caused a stir with alleged revelations about Hunter Biden’s business activities in Ukraine and China. The focus was on Hunter Biden’s previous high-paying commitment to the Ukrainian gas company Burisma. His entry into the group’s board of directors in 2014 was controversial because his father was vice president under President Barack Obama and responsible for the United States’ Ukraine policy.

Trump repeatedly accused the Bidens of corruption, which they firmly rejected. An investigation by Trump’s Republicans in the Senate also found no evidence of undue influence by the former vice president.

Hunter Biden is the President’s second son. His older brother Beau died of complications from a brain tumor in 2015. Hunter Biden has struggled with drug problems in the past.
