Sports director Sven Mislintat is optimistic about the search for a new coach for VfB Stuttgart. “I’m in good spirits, but you can’t pack that into complete time sequences,” said the 49-year-old.
The Swabians are still without a win in the current Bundesliga season and parted ways with coach Pellegrino Matarazzo on Monday. The Italian-American had looked after VfB for more than 1000 days and in a total of 100 competitive games. Possible successors include Zsolt Löw, Sebastian Hoeneß, Gerardo Seoane and Peter Bosz. “Our goal is, as quickly as possible, the most accurate and best possible solution for ideally another 1000 days, 100 games and not for one, three or five games,” said Mislintat.
Training on Tuesday, in which the starting eleven from the last home game against Union Berlin (0-1) did not take part, was led by former assistant coach Michael Wimmer. It is an option for the 42-year-old to sit on the bench in the upcoming game against VfL Bochum on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky) “or maybe play several games,” said Mislintat. But it is not the goal.
