National ice hockey player JJ Peterka scored his first goal in the National Hockey League. The 20-year-old scored 1-1 in the Buffalo Sabers’ 4-1 win against the Ottawa Senators led by his compatriot Tim Stützle, contributing to his team’s first win in the first game of the NHL season.

Rasmus Dahlin and Victor Olofsson with a brace completed the success in front of their own fans in Buffalo. Peterka was drafted by the Sabers in 2020, but since then has played most of his tenure in the second-tier AHL and only made two appearances in the NHL last season.
