According to a media report, Rouven Schröder is currently not a candidate for the post of sports director at Bundesliga club RB Leipzig after leaving FC Schalke 04. It is still unclear what the management structure in sport at RB under Sport Managing Director Max Eberl, who will officially take office in mid-December, should look like, the portal “RBlive” and the “Mitteldeutsche Zeitung” reported on Saturday. It is considered likely that the 48-year-old will bring or look for a second man. But Schröder will not be according to the current status. There had previously been reports that the 47-year-old was an option for the Saxons.

According to Schalke on Wednesday, Schröder had asked for the early exit from his contract, which was valid until 2024, for personal reasons, but this is currently only on hold. In this way, the Revierclub hopes to receive a transfer fee if Schröder joins another club at a later date.
