Chile will be the guest country of honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2027. As the book fair announced, book fair director Juergen Boos and Chile’s Minister of Culture Carolina Arredondo Marzán signed the official guest of honor contract in Santiago this Friday. Chile’s publishing scene is lively and young, explained Boos. There are also well-known writers such as Pablo Neruda, Isabel Allende and Roberto Bolaño. “Chilean book illustrations, which have received numerous international awards, will also be the focus,” explained Boos.

Guests of honor have appeared at the Frankfurt Book Fair since 1976. One goal is to increase the number of translations from the host country into German. Next year Italy will be the guest country. In 2024, the trade fair is planned for October 16th to 20th.
