Thanks to a strong final quarter by the Dallas Mavericks and another outstanding Luka Doncic, national basketball player Maxi Kleber won the German NBA duel with Franz Wagner.

The Orlando Magic led for long stretches of the first three quarters, but then gave up the game and lost 105:114 in Dallas. The Los Angeles Lakers got their first win of the season at the sixth attempt and beat the Denver Nuggets 121:110.

Mavericks leader Doncic had 44 points and has never had a game with fewer than 32 points this season. He is the leader in the league with an average of 36.7 points per game. Kleber had two points, two rebounds and two assists. Wagner had 11 points, four rebounds and two assists for the Magic, who are still waiting for their second win of the season.

A strong final quarter secured the eagerly awaited first win of the season for the Lakers. The team of national team captain Dennis Schröder, who still has his thumb injured, benefited overall from an improved three-way quota. LeBron James was the top scorer of the game with 26 points, Anthony Davis had 23 and Russell Westbrook had 18 points.

Isaiah Hartenstein had 12 points, nine rebounds and one assist for the New York Knicks but was unable to prevent the 108-121 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
