VfL Osnabrück has managed to break free in the relegation battle of the 3rd football league. Lower Saxony won 3-2 (1-2) against Halleschen FC, who were level on points before the game, on Monday evening thanks to an increase in performance in the second half. Coach Tobias Schweinsteiger’s team was behind for a little over fifty minutes. The team moved up from 16th to 14th in the standings and has four points more than SV Meppen, who are in a direct relegation zone. Previously, the Osnabrück had lost three games in a row.

Halle’s offensive player Tom Zimmerschied initially shocked the home side with a shot from 20 meters in the fourth minute and caused the deficit early on. Several passes back to the goalkeeper, serious ball losses in midfield and hardly any goal approaches: The Lower Saxony managed little in the first 30 minutes. Niklas Kreuzer responded to the undeserved equalizer by VfL midfielder Jannes Wulff (22nd) for the guests with a converted penalty kick (24th).

In the second half, however, the hosts dominated the game and got back into the game: Halles Sören Reddemann pushed a cross from Erik Engelhardt into his own net in front of Paterson Chato, who was ready to score (59 ‘). And that Engelhardt then ensured the victory shortly afterwards (67th).
