The hope is hidden in a long report on page 64. It’s easy to miss among all the apocalyptic reports in the run-up to the UN climate conference in Egypt. There is the Russian war of aggression, which has caused a renaissance of climate-damaging coal energy. There are tensions between the US and China over Taiwan, which complicates agreements between the two countries. And there are measurements according to which the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has recently risen to a record high.
