Top scorer Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting can hope for a new contract with FC Bayern Munich thanks to his super series. “We will definitely talk, we would like to keep him,” said Munich sports director Hasan Salihamidzic on Sunday on Sky TV. The German soccer record champion is happy to have the striker from Cameroon in his ranks.

Choupo-Moting’s contract expires at the end of the season. In the past seven games he has scored nine goals and played a major role in Bayern’s winning streak and return to the top of the Bundesliga table.

“We knew from the start that he was a really good footballer. We were all surprised that he had such a run. Now he’s showing what he can do,” said Salihamidzic. The club will hold talks with Choupo-Moting “in due course”. The attacker was “superbly accepted in the team, he’s a super guy,” said Salihamidzic.

Choupo-Moting came to Munich from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in October 2020. In previous seasons he had been a backup for world-class striker Robert Lewandowski.
