Dutch food manufacturer Van Sillevoldt Rijst B.V. recalls the products “Golden Sun Basmati Rice, 1kg” and “Golden Sun Long Grain Premium Rice in a Cooking Bag, 1kg”. Increased aflatoxin levels have been detected in the products offered by the discounter Lidl, the company announced on Wednesday. According to the information, aflatoxins are mold toxins that can lead to liver and kidney damage if ingested over a long period of time.
This affects products with the following best-before dates: January 7th, 2023, January 8th, 2023, January 18th, 2023 – January 20th, 2023 (Golden Sun Basmati Rice, 1kg). For the product “Golden Sun Long Grain Premium Rice in a Cooking Bag, 1kg”, these best-before dates are affected: 05/10/2023 – 05/12/2023, 05/17/2023 – 05/21/2023, 05/25/2023, 05/26/2023, 06/07/2023, 06/08/2023.
The products can be returned in all Lidl branches. According to the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety, the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hesse, Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia are affected.
