A bus plunged into a ravine in the Philippines, killing at least 28 people. This was announced by Provincial Governor Rhodora Cadiao.

The vehicle left the road on a curve on Tuesday in a mountainous area near the town of Hamtic on the southern tip of Panay Island. Cadiao spoke of a catastrophe. The number of deaths could still rise because there are many seriously injured people.

According to her, there were 53 people on the bus. According to initial investigations, the vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier on a curve and then fell into the ravine. There have already been several accidents at this point, said the provincial governor. The accident happened about 450 kilometers south of the capital Manila.
