Despite the success stories that Markus Krösche and Oliver Glasner write together with Eintracht Frankfurt, they are sometimes said to have a somewhat complicated relationship. The sports director has now commented on this and on preparations for “Case X”.
The successes that Frankfurt has celebrated this calendar year, for example, are based on the joint work of Oliver Glasner and Markus Krösche.
But despite winning the Europa League, despite advancing in the Champions League and despite the good run in the league, there are always frictions between the two. It has been heard that they will clash, especially when planning transfers.
The sports director spoke to the FAZ in more detail about his relationship with the SGE trainer and also about how he plans with him in the future.
Krösche emphasized in advance that the two would tick “totally” the same in many aspects. That also applies to the sporting factor, says Krösche: “I have a clear idea of football and how Eintracht Frankfurt should play. We need the right coach for that – and that’s Oliver without a doubt.”
Nevertheless, Glasner is a little more emotional. “I’m more rational on the road,” explained the 42-year-old.
But that’s not the only reason why he’s the right choice as a coach. Krösche also knew how to focus on good internal chemistry: “Whether athletic trainer, doctor, team manager, kit manager or bus driver – everyone ensures the spirit that has a performance-enhancing effect.” Ultimately, Glasner would also benefit from this.
Because he can take all these prerequisites and turn them into a successful team, the Austrian enjoys “an extremely high reputation”.
“Everyone knows that he is outstanding,” Krösche continued to praise his coach. But precisely because Glasner is now showing his good work internationally, you never know “what the future will look like”. After all, it is also Krösche’s task to “prepare case X” – i.e. a possible departure of the Austrian.
“Even though I’m convinced that Oliver will stay with us for a long time,” he added.
