Police have arrested a 30-year-old man who caused a stir with a failed robbery of a jeweler in the middle of the busy city center of Munster. Many people saw him with a gun in his hand when he fled on Saturday morning, and some false reports circulated that shots had been fired, a police spokeswoman said at noon. The man’s pistol turned out to be an airsoft weapon that looks deceptively similar to a sharp weapon.
According to the police, the man threatened with the gun at around 10.45 a.m. on Saturday in a jewelry store on Prinzipalmarkt, i.e. in a popular shopping area where, according to the police spokeswoman, there was a lot going on, also in view of the Christmas market. After the employees did not immediately meet his demand for money, he fled. But he didn’t get far: The 30-year-old was arrested minutes later on the Prinzipalmarkt.
