The car manufacturer Audi is cutting off most of its temporary workers at its plant in Neckarsulm near Heilbronn. Several hundred people were affected, a spokeswoman said upon request, without giving an exact number.
“We are still in challenging times with a volatile market situation,” said the spokeswoman. “The fact that we now have to deregister qualified and trained temporary workers is a difficult decision for us.” However, given the current circumstances, Audi has no other choice. The SWR had previously reported on it.
An employment guarantee applies to permanent staff until 2029, it said. According to the company, a total of 15,505 employees currently work at the location in Neckarsulm.
