According to “Sport Bild” information, national player Thomas Müller’s contract with German soccer record champions FC Bayern Munich is to be extended until 2025 before Christmas.
Müller’s current contract expires next summer. Both sides had recently signaled their general willingness to continue working together.
“There is no one who has internalized FC Bayern like that. We know what we have in him,” said Bayern’s sports director Christoph Freund about the 34-year-old on the sidelines of the Champions League game at Manchester United (1-0): “It’s a special situation for Thomas, but we are in good communication. He behaves extremely professionally towards the team,” said Freund on Prime Video.
The offensive player is no longer a regular starter under coach Thomas Tuchel, and Müller was only substituted on in the second half against Man United. He spent his entire professional career with Bayern. Müller recently announced that he definitely wanted to continue his playing career beyond next summer.
Club president Herbert Hainer recently said that Müller will play for another club from the summer onwards “I am convinced that it will not happen”. Rather, the club’s wish is to retain an icon like Müller in some capacity at the club beyond his professional career.
