My father feels threatened. He sees wild beasts and evil people where there are none. That’s why he can’t fall asleep, wanders around, screams, trembles – and when he does sleep, nightmares wake him up. First sleep disorders started in 2014. Sleeping pills and antidepressants brought no relief, my father became more and more depressed. In 2020 his condition worsened and for a year now we have finally known why: he suffers from a special form of dementia. Since then he has been under neurological treatment, but no medication has helped so far.
