During investigations into the drug dealer scene in Bremen, the police searched apartments and commercial premises in the Hanseatic city and in Lower Saxony. Cash, drugs, data carriers and other evidence were seized, the police said on Saturday. Eight people are suspected of having dealt in drugs in recent years.

After six apartments in Bremen and one in Lower Saxony were searched on Tuesday, the focus of the emergency services on Friday evening was on retreats from the dealer scene, it said. In addition to a snack bar and a shisha bar in Bremen, two apartments were also searched, one of them in Lower Saxony. The police also checked ten bars and kiosks in the Bremen station suburb. Almost 90 people were checked. Among other things, the police confiscated high five-digit sums of cash and several sales units of drugs.

Bremen’s Senator for the Interior, Ulrich Mäurer (SPD), wants to fight the drug scene at the main train station and the street trade. For this purpose, the organizational structure “Quartier” was set up at the Bremen police, Mäurer said. “In addition, the actions serve to prepare measures under the law on foreign nationals in order to be able to deport key players,” said Mäurer: “The message to the scene is: “Disappear. We’re always on your feet.””
