A demonstration with tractors in downtown Leipzig has been registered for Monday morning. Massive traffic restrictions are expected, the police said this morning. Accordingly, 300 tractors and trucks are expected.

The participants want to meet at the Park and Ride Neue Messe at 8 a.m. and drive from there towards the inner city ring around 9 a.m. Several rounds of rings are planned there. The demonstration ends at 11 a.m. at the Battle of the Nations Memorial. There will be no full closure of the route, according to the police. Accordingly, the right side of the road on the ring is intended to be used for the demonstration. Arrivals outside of Leipzig are also expected, said the police spokeswoman.

The motto of the demonstration is “Traffic lights force us to stand still – when the light is red we stop!”. The background to the protest is the planned cancellation of tax breaks by the federal government.
