Alexander Zverev is in the final of the tennis tournament in Chengdu, China. The Olympic champion won his semi-final against Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrow 6:3, 7:6 (7:2) and is fighting for his second title this year in the final this Tuesday.
At the end of July, Zverev (26) had already won the ATP event in his hometown of Hamburg. The opponent in the final is the Russian Roman Safiullin, who defeated number two seeded Italian Lorenzo Musetti 6:3, 6:4.
Best tournament performance
Zverev showed his best performance of the tournament so far against Dimitrow, whom he had recently defeated in the third round of the US Open. The $1.15 million event is the first tournament for the German number one since his thigh injury at the US Open. Afterwards, Zverev had to take a short break and also had to cancel his participation in the Davis Cup relegation in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
