Alexander Zverev reached the third round of the tennis tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Olympic champion defeated the Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka 7:5 and 6:4. Zverev found it harder than the day before in the opening win against Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria and needed almost two hours to win the two sets. In the next round, the 26-year-old will face Russia’s Daniil Medvedev, who beat Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti 6-3, 6-2.

Zverev, who won the ATP 1000 hard court tournament in preparation for the US Open 2021, which begins on August 28, acted inconsistently overall. Among other things, ten aces faced six double faults on serve. In addition, the Hamburg player was bothered by loud music from outside the field in the first set and kept complaining to the referee about it.
