Sports presenter Monica Lierhaus will be back on RTL regularly from November 25th. The Cologne private broadcaster announced this on Thursday. The 53-year-old strengthens the sports moderation team at “RTL Aktuell”. For her, that was “simply wonderful, because I always preferred working live,” said Lierhaus in an RTL interview. “It’s much more exciting than recordings, because something can happen at any time. The adrenaline flows through the body and I feel alive. I’m really looking forward to the new task and my colleagues.”
In June, the journalist had her first assignment on the main RTL news program as part of the Special Olympics. In the future, she will also be used by the broadcaster during the DFB international matches.
After the live broadcast of the friendly match between Germany and Turkey (November 18th at 8:15 p.m.), RTL will show a summary of this year’s “Hall of Fame” ceremony for German football. Monica Lierhaus meets Bayern Munich’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß for an exclusive interview. In recent years, Lierhaus had worked primarily for the pay-TV channel Sky. Due to complications from brain surgery in 2009, she was in a coma for several months. The Hamburg native had previously hosted, among other things, the “Sportschau” on ARD.
