The serious injury to national handball player Paul Drux also hit the Bundesliga club Füchse Berlin deeply.

“This is an absolute tragedy, first and foremost for Paul. It hurts my heart,” said Foxes Managing Director Bob Hanning in a statement from the Bundesliga second.

Drux had torn his Achilles tendon at 23:32 (6:18) in the DHB selection against Sweden in Kristianstad without opposition and was therefore out for months. The 28-year-old backcourt player will travel to Berlin with the German team on Friday and undergo further examinations there.

The capital club is missing Drux in the fight for the first championship in the club’s history. Eight games before the end of the season, the Berliners are tied in the table with 43:9 points with leaders THW Kiel.
