Playmaker TJ Shorts II from Telekom Baskets Bonn has been voted the most valuable player of the current season in the German Basketball League. This was announced by the league.

The 25-year-old received 88 percent of the votes in the election conducted by coaches, sporting directors, captains and journalists, putting him well ahead of DeWayne Russell (EWE Baskets Oldenburg) and Stanley Whittaker (Würzburg Baskets).

Last year, Shorts took second place as a professional at Hakro Merlins Crailsheim. The most valuable player last season was Parker Jackson-Cartwright, also in the Bonn jersey. The club is dominating the regular season this year and is considered the toughest opponent of the industry giants Alba Berlin and FC Bayern Munich, who have dominated the Bundesliga in recent years.

The people from Bonn also prevailed among the coaches: Tuomas Iisalo received 63 percent of the votes and thus won the election well ahead of Roel Moors (BG Göttingen) and Sasa Filipovski (Würzburg Baskets). The Finn, who has been working for Bonn since 2021, had already received the award last season.
