Buses and trains are expected to go on strike this week in all federal states except Bavaria. Verdi has called for industrial action that will last the whole week and culminate on Friday. Then the climate protection activists from Fridays for Future are also calling for a climate strike day, together with Verdi.
The union is negotiating for better working conditions for collectively agreed employees and is demanding, for example, a 35-hour week, limited shift lengths and longer rest periods between shifts, but also more vacation days and more vacation pay. However, the specific requirements differ in the federal states.

In Baden-Württemberg the main strike day is expected to be on Friday. Transport associations in seven cities are affected: Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Heilbronn, Freiburg, Baden-Baden, Esslingen and Konstanz. The strike is planned to last all day.
Last week, transport associations in Baden-Württemberg went on strike on local public transport.
At the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), passengers have to wait longer for buses on Monday. According to the company, individual trips were canceled on subways and trams. The strike is expected to end around 2 p.m.
In Berlin, collective bargaining employees at BVG and the BVG subsidiary Berlin Transport are also on strike all day on Thursday (February 29) and until 2 p.m. on Friday. The BVG also points out that routes and offers that are operated by other companies on behalf of the BVG are not affected by the strike.
In Brandenburg, the Uckermärkische Verkehrsgesellschaft is on strike all day on Wednesday. The Ostprignitz-Ruppiner local public transport (ORP) will follow on Thursday and twelve transport companies across the state will go on strike on Friday:
As in other federal states, train traffic is not affected. There will be a rally in Potsdam on Friday.
In Bremen, possible public transport strikes are not yet entirely clear. Upon request, a Verdi spokesman told stern that negotiations were still scheduled for Tuesday (February 27). “Depending on the outcome, we will then reassess the situation and comment.” Information on this will be provided here later.
Verdi is currently negotiating in Hamburg for collective bargaining employees at Hochbahn and Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein GmbH (VHH). This means that buses, night buses and subway lines in particular are affected by the 48-hour strike from 3 a.m. on Thursday. The S-Bahn lines are not affected. From Saturday 3 a.m. the timetables should be adhered to again.
In Hesse, the Verdi union is planning warning strikes for local public transport. Currently there is only information for the city of Kassel, where the trams and bus lines 1 to 29 of Kasseler Verkehrs-Gesellschaft AG (KVG) are affected on Friday and Saturday. The responsible Verdi committee will not meet until Monday to discuss further warning strikes; the information will be provided here later.
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Verdi is calling on collective bargaining employees to go on a warning strike on Friday from midnight to 11:59 p.m. Local public transport (TV-N) and the Vorpommern Rügen transport company (VVR) are affected. There will also be a rally in the state capital Schwerin on this day.
According to Verdi, the main strike days in Lower Saxony are Thursday and Friday. Hanover, Braunschweig, Osnabrück, Wolfsburg and Goslar are particularly affected. There will be a strike in Göttingen from Wednesday (February 28) to Friday.
In North Rhine-Westphalia, Verdi is calling for a 48-hour warning strike on Thursday and Friday. “Numerous municipal transport companies” across the state are affected; the union lists more than 30 in a statement.
On Wednesday from 3 a.m., collective bargaining employees of the bus companies in Rhineland-Palatinate will go on strike. According to Verdi, these include DB Regio Bus Mitte GmbH, DB Regio Bus Rhein-Mosel GmbH, Palatina Bus GmbH and many others.
Public transport workers in Saarland are on strike on Monday. Verdi has called upon the companies Saarbahn GmbH, Saarbahn Netz GmbH, Neunkircher Verkehrs GmbH, Fahrzeugservice Neunkirchen GmbH, Kreisverkehrsbetriebe Saarlouis GmbH KVS/KVG and Völklinger Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH VVB, among others.

In Saxony-Anhalt, Verdi is also calling on public transport workers to go on warning strikes. As in other federal states, the main strike day is Friday, March 1st. According to the union, key areas are still being discussed in the state. Specific information will be provided here later.
A five-day warning strike at private bus companies began in Schleswig-Holstein on Monday morning. Verdi also called for this. The union initially assumed that there would hardly be any reliable bus transport in rural areas. Urban traffic in Kiel, Lübeck, Flensburg and Neumünster is not affected. In the morning, Verdi estimated the failures at around 85 percent. The North Bus Association, on the other hand, assumed that at least half of the bus drivers were on duty.
In Thuringia, Verdi is also calling on public transport workers to go on warning strikes. As in other federal states, the main strike day and climate strike day is Friday, March 1st.
