Heavy storms, strong currents, waves several meters high, wind speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour – all of this is not uncommon on the Strait of Messina: the weather turbulence seems like a challenge made for a man who sees himself as someone destined for greatness .
The man is Italy’s Minister of Transport Matteo Salvini. His project: a bridge from the Italian mainland to Sicily. The structure would be three times longer than the Golden Gate Bridge. Many have failed in the project – Salvini now wants to master it.
