supreme-court-ruling-requires-hearing-before-deportation-for-detained-venezuelans

Alright, so like, the Supreme Court was all up in Texas judges’ business on Friday, telling them they gotta give a fair hearing to some Venezuelans the Trump administration wants to ship off to El Salvador. Apparently, the Trump peeps were trying to hustle these guys onto planes real quick on a weekend in mid-April, but the high court was like, “Hold up, you can’t just bounce these dudes outta here.” The administration thought they could deport them as “alien enemies” under some old-timey law from way back in 1798.

In a pretty unusual move, the court dropped an eight-page order to explain why they shut down the deportation hustle. They called out a federal judge in Texas and the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for not doing squat to protect the rights of these detained men. Basically, the government was told they can’t kick out the main plaintiffs or any other detainees in the same boat using that wartime law excuse. The justices are clearly not feeling the rush to send people packing and are not happy with judges not stepping up to defend due process rights.

Now, Trump got all in his feels after the ruling, going off on Truth Social about how the Supreme Court is messing with his plans to clean up the country. The ACLU’s deputy director also chimed in, saying the government was trying to pull a fast one by shipping people off to a sketchy prison in El Salvador without even giving them a fair shot. It’s like a big ol’ mess of legal drama that’s got everyone shook. But hey, at least the court is trying to make sure things are done right, even if it means slowing down the deportation train.
