search-underway-for-man-missing-after-kayak-incident-on-american-river

So, like, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office is out there looking for this kayaker dude who took an unexpected dip in the American River near Auburn, Calif. Apparently, he was out there kayaking with another dude when their boat flipped over on Friday evening under the No Hands Bridge. The other guy managed to swim to some rocks and get back to shore safely, but the poor missing dude hasn’t been identified yet. They’re not even sure if he’s still kicking it or not, you know? Elise Soviar from the Sheriff’s Office was like, “It’s tough to say, man. We don’t wanna give up hope until we know for sure.”

The search for the missing kayaker kicked off on Friday, and by Saturday morning, they had a dive team out there on the water trying to locate him. According to Soviar, even though the river might look all nice and inviting on a sunny day, people need to be careful, especially this time of year. She was all like, “The water is super fast and freezing cold since it’s coming from the mountains, and this part of the American River is known to be sketchy.” The Sheriff’s Office teamed up with Cal Fire’s Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit for the search, and State Parks, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, and the California Highway Patrol also chipped in to help, as per a social media post from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office on Friday.

So, yeah, they’re out there doing their best to find this missing kayaker dude. Let’s hope they can track him down soon and get him back safe and sound.
