So, like, last Friday, the Trump administration got all up in arms about immigration and arrested this judge in Milwaukee, Judge Hannah Dugan. The FBI nabbed her at 8:30 a.m. and charged her with obstructing an immigration arrest, saying she helped an illegal alien evade arrest. A Mexican citizen named Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, who was in the U.S. unlawfully, got away from ICE agents with Dugan’s help. Not really sure why this matters, but it seems like the administration is cracking down hard on immigration issues.
Dugan was all mad about the situation, calling it ‘absurd’ when ICE agents tried to arrest Flores-Ruiz in her courthouse. She demanded to see a judicial warrant, took Flores-Ruiz through a back door to avoid arrest, and then acted all confrontational with the officers. She even let him get away before FBI and DEA agents caught him after a foot chase. So like, it was a whole mess.
Then, Dugan had to go to federal court but was released. Her lawyer said her arrest wasn’t in the interest of public safety. But like, who knows? The government is really getting serious about enforcing immigration laws since Trump became president. They even went after a judge this time, which seems pretty intense.
Local politicians in Wisconsin are all upset about Dugan’s arrest, saying it was too much. They think she deserves fair treatment and respect for upholding the law. But Trump doesn’t seem to care what anyone thinks. He’s been attacking judges left and right when he doesn’t like their decisions. Sounds like he’s causing a lot of drama with the judicial system these days.
