President Trump is still fixated on the star power that propelled former Vice President Kamala Harris’ ultimately unsuccessful campaign. In a couple of posts shared on his Truth Social platform Sunday night and Monday morning, Trump took aim at several celebrities who publicly endorsed Harris during her campaign. The stars who drew the former “Apprentice” host’s ire included Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Oprah, and Bono. Trump, in his caps-lock-filled rants, accused the Harris team of illegally compensating Springsteen, Beyoncé, and other celebrities to make appearances at campaign events and endorse the Biden-era VP. He vowed to launch a major investigation into the matter, claiming that Harris paid for endorsements under the guise of paying for entertainment.
Beyoncé, Springsteen, and the other celebrities singled out by Trump all voiced their support for Harris at different stops on her campaign trail. The “Alien Superstar” singer backed Harris during a visit to Texas, while The Boss campaigned for her in Georgia. Trump’s initial post, which also criticized Harris for inflating her crowd sizes and condemned the “unpatriotic entertainers,” was shared around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. Unable to let go of his grievances even after a night’s sleep, Trump doubled down on Monday morning at 6:11 a.m. by further attacking Beyoncé, citing alleged news reports claiming she was paid $11 million to endorse his opponent. He labeled it as “AN ILLEGAL ELECTION SCAM AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL” and demanded an explanation from the stars he mentioned, hinting at potential involvement from others as well.
Despite having the support of musicians like Kid Rock and Billy Ray Cyrus, Trump didn’t hold back in his criticism of Taylor Swift, suggesting her popularity had waned since he declared his dislike for her in 2024. Swift, who publicly endorsed Harris for president, was not spared from Trump’s social media attacks. The president’s comments on music stars came after his trip to the Middle East, where he also took a swipe at Bruce Springsteen for criticizing his administration during a concert in England. Trump referred to Springsteen as a “dried out prune of a rocker” and advised him to keep quiet until his return to the country. In response, Springsteen defended his right to free speech and voiced his concerns about persecution for dissenting opinions in his home. The exchange between Trump and Springsteen highlighted the ongoing tension between the music industry and the political realm, with both sides unafraid to speak their minds.
