So, like, there was this hearing in Boston back in March, ya know? U.S. District Judge Myong J. Joun was all like, “Hey attorneys, what are you gonna lose if I don’t step in right now and stop these huge cuts to teacher training programs by the Trump administration?” And then this California Deputy Atty. Gen. Laura Faer was all like, “Dude, it’s a total mess. Our programs in Cali are gonna shut down if you don’t do something ASAP.” Joun was like, “Alright, I’ll put a temporary restraining order on the cuts because they seem random and dumb.” But then the Supreme Court was like, “Nah, the states didn’t prove they’d lose the money forever if we didn’t stop the cuts.” So, the states lost that one, but the fight ain’t over yet. It’s part of a bigger legal battle Cali and its peeps are waging against Trump.
During Trump’s first 100 days, California filed, like, 15 lawsuits against his administration. They were all like, “Nah, man, we ain’t havin’ it.” They challenged stuff on immigration, the economy, tariffs, LGBTQ+ rights, and more. They were workin’ super hard to shut down Trump’s plans left and right. Sometimes they won and slowed him down, but other times they lost and had to keep fighting. It’s been a rollercoaster of wins and losses for California, but they ain’t givin’ up.
All these lawsuits are still goin’ on, at different stages and stuff. California’s first lawsuit was about Trump tryna take away birthright citizenship. They were all, “Nuh-uh, that ain’t right.” And some judges agreed with them and said Trump’s order was unconstitutional. But the fight ain’t over yet, ‘cause now it’s headin’ to the Supreme Court. And like, California also won a lawsuit against Trump’s freeze on trillions of dollars in funding. They were like, “Nah, you can’t do that,” and the judges were on their side. The Trump admin had to release the funds ‘cause of the court orders. California’s takin’ on a bunch of other stuff too, like mass firings, budget cuts, and tariffs.
The state is also backin’ others in their fights against Trump. They’re filing briefs and stuff to support cases against Trump’s bans on trans people in the military, refugee services suspension, and more. They’re tryna stop him from doin’ all this crazy stuff. California’s been pretty successful in pausin’ Trump’s policies through these lawsuits, but it’s been a tough battle.
The bigger picture here is that California is leadin’ the resistance against Trump. They ain’t backin’ down and they ain’t lettin’ him get away with breakin’ the law. Trump’s peeps are all mad, sayin’ California is just causin’ problems for their own people. But California’s like, “Nah, we gotta stand up against this.” They’re ready to keep fightin’ and they ain’t runnin’ outta gas anytime soon.
So, yeah, California’s in it for the long haul. Trump’s tryna do his thing, but California ain’t lettin’ him off easy. It’s a battle of wills, and California ain’t backin’ down. Who’s gonna come out on top? Not really sure, but it’s gonna be one heck of a ride.
