A Russian Su-34 fighter jet crashed over a residential area in the Russian city of Yeysk on the Azov Sea on Monday. According to preliminary information from the regional civil defense, at least two people were killed. 15 people were injured and taken to the hospital.

The Ministry of Defense in Moscow confirmed the crash. At the start, one of the two engines of the machine caught fire, it was said. The two men from the cockpit of the fighter bomber were saved with parachutes. Videos and photos allegedly from Yeysk showed a large explosion close to an eight-story apartment building. Part of the house caught fire up to the roof.

The ministry spoke of a training flight. The port city of Yeysk is also so close to Ukraine that airstrikes could be launched from there.
