Joseph Stephen Doran, 84, passed away on March 27, 2025, in Rochester, NY, with his daughter and granddaughter by his side.
Joe grew up in Albany and built a life that took him across the country, moving from job to job, always climbing. From Bear Manning to Gillette to a VP role at Bausch & Lomb, he worked hard, but life wasn’t always easy.
He married Patty O’Brien, and together they had three children. Later in life, he found love again with Kathy Schoonmaker. They traveled, spent time together, and shared a love for hockey—especially with his second son and their dog, Oz.
Joe leaves behind his daughter, Eileen Doran-Wrona; his second son, Chris Wrona; grandchildren Jessie, Kacie, and Morgan; his sister, Jane; and many nieces and nephews who cared for him deeply. He was preceded in death by his wives, Patty and Kathy, his daughter Rosemary, his son Steve, and his sisters Nancy, Betsy, Cathleen, and Lillian.
There will be no public service—just a private gathering for family.

He was strong, sharp, and had a wit that never dulled. He loved his family, a good drink, and a bit of jazz in the background. We wish there had been more time. We miss you, Poppy.
