Actress Eva Green (“Dumbo”) has won a lawsuit in London for a fee of one million US dollars (910,000 euros). The High Court today saw it as proven that the former Bond girl (“Casino Royale”) is entitled to the sum, even though the production company canceled the film in autumn 2019.
The company had sued the 42-year-old for not fulfilling the contract. Green refused to participate and also made “excessive creative and financial demands”. The court rejected that.
“I fought back and this time justice prevailed,” Green said in a statement. “I wish I could say that this ordeal has made me stronger, better and wiser. But having my personal life dragged through the press and in court has been more painful and damaging than I can say.”
No evidence
In messages to loved ones from before the film’s cancellation, released during the trial, Green had insulted those responsible for the film and threatened to withdraw from the project. However, the court did not see this as evidence of a breach of contract, but attested to the actress that she was in an emotional state of emergency.
Rather, Green was concerned about the quality of the film. The actress, who testified for two days in January, was “surprisingly unprepared” and “in a way a frustrating and unsatisfying witness”. However, the court finally agreed with her.
