Right at the beginning of the fresh cinema month, the warriors of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” have to save the universe and each other for the third time. If you prefer the almost equally busy “Fast
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved misfit gang slowly adjusts to life on Knowhere. But it doesn’t take long for Rocket’s turbulent past to turn her everyday life upside down. Peter Quill (Chris Pratt, 43), still reeling from the loss of Gamora (Zoe Saldana, 44), must once again gather his team to join forces to defend the universe and save Rocket’s life. Assessment:
The consuming war against Thanos is over, but it has also left deep scars on the Guardians. If you’re not sure how the “Infinity War” left Star-Lord and Co. behind, you should refresh your memory before Volume 3 hits the cinemas. The film itself offers the usual mix of action, slapstick and retro music that director James Gunn (56) and “Guardians of the Galaxy” have always stood for.
Over the course of numerous missions and against all odds, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have still managed to outmaneuver, outmaneuver and outrun all enemies that got in their way. Now they must face the deadliest foe they have ever faced: a terrifying menace rising from the shadows of their past, driven by a thirst for revenge and determined to crush the family and destroy everyone forever , the cathedral is important.

Arielle (Halle Bailey, 23), the youngest and most headstrong daughter of King Triton (Javier Bardem, 54), longs to learn more about the world beyond the sea and falls in love with the handsome Prince Erik during a visit to the surface (Jonah Hauer-King, 27). Although mermaids are forbidden from associating with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a pact with the evil sea witch Ursula (Melissa McCarthy, 52). Although this gives her the chance to get to know life on land, it ultimately puts her life – and her father’s crown – in danger.

What a frustrating realization: Even in the year 2023 there will still be die-hards who are bothered by the fact that a fictional character like Arielle is embodied by a black actress. Another point of criticism, which in contrast has its raison d’être, is the question of the live-action film as such. In recent years, Disney has gotten into the habit of transporting its greatest animated classics to the here and now. Most recently with “Pinocchio” and generally more and more often it went really wrong. Is “Arielle” able to translate the charm of the original into reality?
Renfield (Nicholas Hoult, 33) is forced to retrieve his master Dracula’s (Nicolas Cage) loot and do his bidding, no matter how nefarious. Now, however, after centuries of servitude, he is ready to emerge from the shadow of the prince of darkness and begin a new life. To do this, however, he must succeed in ending his dependence on his master.
Assessment:
Nicolas Cage as the theatrical vampire prince Dracula, the world’s most famous bloodsucker? That sounds like a “Match made in Heaven”. Already in “Massive Talent” Cage proved impressively that he has great comedy timing. In the exaggeratedly bloody horror comedy “Renfield” he once again goes to work with fervent enthusiasm.
