“Now things are getting really serious,” says Dennis (30), summarizing the eighth episode of “The Bachelors” (Wednesdays 8:15 p.m., RTL and RTL). “The last week before the dream dates is coming up.” There are only eight women left in the game, four per nose. Sebastian (35) and Dennis invite all eight of them to a group date. The program includes an audience with a sangoma, a South African healer. He wants to read the past, present and future of everyone involved from bones.
Kim (30) learns from the sangoma that she always gives in relationships, but forgets herself. Most candidates would probably agree to that. Nadia (26) is told that she once bet on the wrong man. Eva (27) becomes emotional when she is asked about her deceased mother. Larissa (30) doesn’t dare enter the ring. She wants to continue to “maintain her facade.”
The bachelors are also scrutinized by the ancestors of the sangoma. They obviously know about Sebastian’s previous engagement, which he finds scary. Dennis is looking for the real woman who could be here, the ancestors conclude razor-sharply. The healer advises Dennis to focus on one woman now. But he doesn’t follow the advice. After the session he snogs both Nadia and Rebecca (27).
Later, the bachelors receive visits from their ancestors or relatives. Dennis is “good with birds” and is waiting at an ostrich farm. His cousin and a friend surprise him there. Dennis tears up from joy at the visit from his homeland; he reacts more emotionally than he has before on all the dates with the women combined.
Dennis’ friends and relatives screen the ladies. Katja (28) is visually closest to his type, is her conclusion. Her favorite is Lissy (29), who reminds her fatally of Dennis’ ex, who couldn’t do anything with his humor.
Sebastian invites his women to wine tasting. His mother and brother show up there as surprise guests. Mom in particular subjects her son’s suitors to merciless cross-traffic. With Larissa, she takes aim at her age and her tattoo, but with a wink. Larissa is also the mother’s favorite.
After the examination by the ancestors, one candidate per bachelor is of course allowed to stay on a single date. Sebastian mixes his own wine with Eva. At the end she demands a kiss; after all, she was the only one of the remaining women from Team Sebastian who wasn’t allowed to have it yet. He feels a “crackling sound”, perhaps he has even “mistaken” himself.
Rebecca, who gets to spend solo time with Dennis, is long past kissing. The next step would be “making out with touching”. So “fucking”, as Dennis sums it up to suit the location.
Finally, the final rose ceremony is in South Africa, and the dream dates are headed to Mauritius. Dennis is more excited than ever. He finally throws Nadia out. Physical attraction was there from the start, “emotionally something was missing.” Sebastian sends Freya (25) home shortly before the goal closes.
