Very few people probably knew this: Apparently Sophia Thomalla (34) and Sandy Meyer-Wölden (41) are friends with each other. And currently competing together at the Miami Open.
Thomalla is currently supporting her friend Alexander Zverev (26), who has just made it to the quarter-finals of the tournament against the Russian Karen Chatschanow (27). Thomalla also watched the game and cheered on her loved one – and not alone. Oliver Pocher’s (46) ex-wife Sandy Meyer-Wölden was also in the stands.
It is not clear how the two women know each other. But now it’s out in the world: Thomalla posted the photo with Meyer-Wölden, in which they are standing on a grandstand and grinning into the camera, in her Instagram story. She writes: “We have a little extra support today!”
Meyer-Wölden also posted the picture in her story and also wrote: “Of course, there is always support from here! Let’s move on.” Admittedly, the journey wasn’t particularly far for Meyer-Wölden: she lives in Miami with her five children. But she probably has Thomalla to thank for the child-free evening, as she writes in her story. In another photo she congratulates Zverev on the victory and writes to the moderator: “Thank you for the great organization.”
However, it is not surprising that Meyer-Wölden is actually a big fan of the sport: her father Axel Meyer-Wölden was not only a lawyer during his lifetime, but also an advisor and manager to numerous athletes, including tennis ace Boris Becker. Sandy Meyer-Wölden also pursued a tennis career as a teenager, which she ended at the age of 16. She also had a relationship with former tennis professional Tommy Haas (45) that lasted around seven years. During the corona pandemic, however, she posted a sporty video on Instagram in which she was again sweeping the court with her racket: “I finally found the love for tennis again!”
