With the Golden Globes, the awards season also started in the new year. The nominations for the 2024 SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards have now been announced, which will be awarded on February 24th. As with the Globes, there was no getting around the two films “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer”, which were jokingly merged to form “Barbenheimer” because of their simultaneous success.

The films by Greta Gerwig (40) and Christopher Nolan (53) top the list with four nominations each. They compete directly in the categories “Best Supporting Actor” – Ryan Gosling (43) and Robert Downey Jr. (58) are nominated – and “Best Film Cast”. “Killers of the Flower Moon”, “American Fiction” and “The Color Purple” are also represented in this category.

The main actors include most of the previously identified favorites – but there is also one important name missing. Cillian Murphy (47, “Oppenheimer”), Colman Domingo (54, “Rustin”), Paul Giamatti (56, “The Holdovers”), Bradley Cooper (49, “Maestro”) and Jeffrey Wright (58, “American Fiction”) was nominated – but a certain Leonardo DiCaprio (49) was missing for his performance in “Killers of the Flower Moon”.

A certain favorite was also passed over among the leading actresses. Annette Bening (65, “Nyad”), Lily Gladstone (37, “Killers of the Flower Moon”), Carey Mulligan (38, “Maestro”) Margot Robbie (33, “Barbie”) and Emma Stone (35, “Poor Things”) are in the running here – but not Fantasia Barrino (39) for her performance in “The Color Purple”.

Among the series, “Succession” has the most nominations – with five, one more than “Barbenheimer”. Three stars – Brian Cox (77), Kieran Culkin (41) and Matthew Macfadyen (49) – are nominated for “Best Actor in a Drama Series”, only Pedro Pascal (48, “The Last of Us” ) and Billy Crudup (55, “The Morning Show”) made it.

The main actresses are Jennifer Aniston (54, “The Morning Show”), Elizabeth Debicki (33, “The Crown”), Bella Ramsey (20, “The Last of Us”), Keri Russell (47, “The Diplomat” ) and Sarah Snook (36, “Succession”).

In the category “Best Ensemble Cast of a Drama Series” “The Crown”, “The Gilded Age”, “The Last of Us”, “Succession” and “The Morning Show” compete against each other. In the comedy categories, “The Bear” and “Ted Lasso” are at the top with four nominations each.
