Everything new in Monaco: the palace has been restored. And amazing discoveries were made. Prince Albert revealed this in an interview with “Hello Magazine”.
The first work was done in the inner courtyard, since the salty air in the Principality had already attacked the walls there. Frescoes were uncovered in the process, which is why it was decided to also restore parts inside the palace.
“Thus we found further frescoes in the Hercules gallery as well as in the rooms and all the state rooms of the west wing of the palace.” Albert is “very happy” about it.
Because these frescoes also tell a lot about his origins and the history of his family. “We have discovered extraordinary things, such as on the throne room ceiling. These are some of the last significant interior works that were done here in the palace.”
The project lasted a total of eight years. Albert also wants to pass on the myths and legends behind the colorful pictures to his twins Jacques and Gabriella.
And Charlène was also involved: “Princess Charlène is enthusiastic and happy that we were able to carry out this work. Last year she guided some of her guests through the state apartments and really enjoyed showing them the frescoes,” says Albert in the interview.
He sees her participation as very positive: “It shows how much she cares about the project and that she wants to share our family’s joy about these beautiful works.”
The fact that Albert made such statements about his wife should ward off the recent rumors of separation, which were fueled primarily by reports in the magazine “Royauté”. These had triggered such violent reactions from fans of the Royals that even the press representatives felt compelled to make a rare statement.
Speaking to the portal “Royal Central”, the press office of the palace “formally rejected the malicious rumors of the French magazine “Royauté”. They were described as “completely unfounded”.
