It is perhaps the most charming crime series that the ARD has on offer and for the first time one of the ratings bringers par excellence. Together, the veterinarian and former policeman Hauke Jacobs (Hinnerk Schönemann), the policewoman Hannah Wagner (Jana Klinge) and the veterinarian Jule Christiansen (Marleen Lohse) investigate murders and robberies in the fictional village of Schwanitz on the Baltic Sea and lure an audience of millions in front of the television. After almost exactly a year, fans can now look forward to new thriller material from the beginning of January, which will be broadcast every Thursday from 8:15 p.m.

There is a premiere right in the first episode on January 5th, because Hinnerk Schönemann is not only in front of the camera in “Auf der Flug” but also behind the camera for the first time. A long-cherished dream of the 48-year-old, who, according to an interview with ARD, told producer Claudia Schröder in 2017 that he would like to direct. And the episode is tough, because four criminals manage to escape during the prisoner transport. When they go into hiding in Schwanitz, they take Jule Christiansen and her intern Lea hostage.

“Canasta”, the second episode, which will be broadcast on January 12, is initially about a mysterious death within the Schwanitzer Canasta round. When shortly afterwards a car crashes into the garden of the Töteberg funeral home and the driver who was shot dies, difficult investigations begin for Hauke Jacobs and Hannah Wagner.

The big season finale will be broadcast on January 19 with “Natalja”. Jacobs and Wagner find themselves in the middle of a confrontation between the BKA and the Russian secret service. “Canasta” and “Natalja” were directed by Felix Herzogenrath, who had already been behind the camera in three other episodes of “Nord bei Nordwest”. The new episodes can be accessed in the media library two days in advance.

If you don’t want to wait until the beginning of January for episodes of “Nord bei Nordwest”, you can get new food before Christmas. The three episodes of the previous season will be shown on NDR on December 20th and 27th and on January 3rd from 10 p.m. from 8.15 p.m. the Christmas special “Ho Ho Ho!” in which Jacobs, Wagner and Christiansen investigate the case of a murdered Santa Claus.

Since the first of the 17 episodes that have been broadcast so far, “Nord bei Nordwest” has become a guarantor of ratings on ARD. In January 2022, more than eight million viewers tuned into the three new criminal cases and left behind, among other things, the new episodes of “Bergdoktor”, ZDF’s ratings guarantee. With the ratings, ARD celebrated the day’s victory.
