Carolin Kebekus (43) wishes for this year’s carnival to start on November 11th. a more peaceful coexistence. “For me, Carnival is the most wonderful time of the year,” said the Cologne comedian to the German Press Agency. “No matter whether it’s a bar carnival or a street carnival, I just can’t get enough of it.”

Of course, there’s also the occasional Kölsch. “We have a golden rule in the huge carnival clique: We party hard, but always look out for each other and make sure that everyone is doing well. Even the staggering rag clown who isn’t one of us.” Accordingly, next Saturday she hopes that the people of Cologne will take good care of each other on the streets and in the bars.

At Carnival in Cologne, excessive alcohol consumption regularly leads to unpleasant side effects. This year a particularly large crowd is expected because November 11th. falls on a Saturday. With 1,000 police officers, 180 law enforcement officers and more than 1,000 private security guards, the city wants to control the expected rush.

Kebekus herself is giving up alcohol completely this year because she is pregnant. The new episode of the “Carolin Kebekus Show,” which airs on Thursday at 10:50 p.m. on ARD, is also about the importance of alcohol, not just at Carnival.
