Red carpet, premieres and award ceremonies – no thanks! For Nicole Kidman (56), the glamorous Hollywood lifestyle is no longer the best part of her day.
In a new interview with “Elle,” the “Expats” actress admits that she enjoys being in the spotlight and wearing designer clothes less than coming home. She literally said about the situations at the glamorous events: “Sometimes it feels a little unreal. I want to go, take off my dress and put on my pajamas.”
However, Kidman is also aware that many people would prefer the designer robe to the pajamas: “It’s a bit like the opposite of Cinderella – I’m happy to go home and just go back to myself.” Apparently, this need to retreat is often very strong for the actress: “It feels a little overwhelming. I think to myself, ‘I have to go home now. I’m very tired. I want to warm up, curl up and feel real .'”
Even in her family life in Tennessee, Kidman shows no airs and graces. The actress also reports in the interview that she is an active part of her city community – from visits to children’s hospitals to buying diapers for the school fundraiser. “I like being a part of something that’s not about my work, not about who I am, none of that,” Kidman explains. “I am simply a citizen who participates in the world.”
Nicole Kidman has been married to country singer Keith Urban (56) since 2006. The couple has two biological children, Sunday, born in 2008, and Faith, born in 2010. Kidman also has two adopted children from her marriage to Tom Cruise (61): Connor (29) and Isabella (31).
