For almost 40 years, the Christmas classic “Last Christmas” by George Michael’s (1963-2016) group Wham! repeatedly placed in the charts in Germany – and has thus held a special record so far. The singer and rapper Apache 207 (25) has now discontinued it.
At Christmas 1984, “Last Christmas” secured a place in the official German charts for the first time, determined by GfK Entertainment. Since then, the song has been placed 161 times. Apache’s “Roller” has now replaced the Christmas song and has been in the top 100 for 162 weeks since the summer of 2019 – with interruptions – making the song the most frequently placed song in the history of the Official German Charts.
In addition to “Last Christmas”, according to a report by GfK Entertainment, “Another Love” by Tom Odell (32) has also climbed 161 times in the single charts, which will be based on the song by Wham! should pass. The song, which is around ten years old, is currently in 17th place ahead of “Roller” (position 41).
The German music veteran Udo Lindenberg (76) and Apache 207 released the song “Komet” together in January. A little later, the song was number one in the German single charts. For Lindenberg it was the first top ranking in his long career in the singles.
Apache 207 is going on an open-air tour this summer and will also be appearing at a number of festivals. Performances in Hanover, Mannheim, Dresden, Berlin, Rostock, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Essen are planned between June and September.
