The “Hells Bells” rockers from AC/DC last toured Germany in 2016 – a mysterious countdown and further information are now fueling the fans’ hopes that they will soon be able to see the Australians live here again.
There is a countdown on the band’s homepage that ends on Monday morning at 9 a.m. (CET), accompanied by the words “Are you ready?” The ticket retailer Eventim is also apparently ready for a new tour by the group with singer Brian Johnson. It says: “There are increasing signs that AC/DC will finally go on a big world tour again in 2024 and will also stop in Germany.”
One stop will probably be Munich, as Mayor Dieter Reiter confirmed some time ago according to the radio station Rockantenne. “It could be that I gave something away. I didn’t know it was so secret. But it was simply an answer to a question that arose in the city council – namely, why there wasn’t a kick-off concert for the Euro 2024 fan festival takes place in the Olympic Stadium. And I knew why it doesn’t take place in the Olympic Stadium: Because AC/DC are playing there.” The date of the AC/DC concert in the Bavarian capital is June 12th. The “Süddeutsche Zeitung” also reported accordingly.
According to information from a well-known fan channel on YouTube, another concert is scheduled for June 9th in Munich, which also named the German tour stops Gelsenkirchen, Hockenheim, Stuttgart, Nuremberg and Hanover. The Austrian online magazine “Oe24” also claims to have learned that AC/DC will be performing at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium on June 23rd and 26th.
But despite all the euphoria that the speculation triggers among fans, caution is advised: neither a new (world) tour nor appearances in Germany or Austria have been officially confirmed by the band or its management. The resolution may be available on Monday at 9 a.m.
