In the end it wasn’t enough: handball world champion Michael “Mimi” Kraus (39) and star chef Ali Güngörmüs (46) left the RTL show “Let’s Dance”. After all the dancing couples had progressed one round in the last show before the Easter break, two celebrities had to say goodbye to the show in the seventh episode on Friday evening.
Güngörmüs had already taken last place two weeks ago. “That’s when my ambition got hold of me,” explained the 46-year-old on Friday evening before his performance. Juror Motsi Mabuse praised him for it: “You gave absolutely everything,” she said after the star chef’s Paso Doble. With a total of 20 jury points, Güngörmüs and professional dancer Christina Luft ended up at the bottom again.
Handball player Kraus and professional dancer Mariia Maksina, on the other hand, had actually danced their way into midfield with their Charleston. In the jury team dances, however, the group of juror Mabuse was more convincing than that of juror Joachim Llambi, which is why Mabuse’s group got the most points and Kraus, who had danced in Llambi’s team, slipped to the penultimate place. In the end, the calls from viewers didn’t help him either.
In addition to Kraus and Güngörmüs, Twitch star Jens “Knossi” Knossalla also had to tremble that evening, but he then made it to the next round. The 36-year-old performed a Paso Doble on “Let Me Entertain You”. The jury was both amused and impressed by his particularly expressive facial expressions. Emotionally, Knossalla was awesome, said Llambi. The fact that he was the only one who gave the entertainer nine points earned the strict judge a hug from the Twitch star.
Model Anna Ermakova once again stood out in the eyes of the jury with her slow waltz. After the daughter of tennis legend Boris Becker floated across the floor with professional Valentin Lusin, Mabuse enthused that she had never experienced such a performance in 16 years of “Let’s Dance” history. “That was probably the best slow waltz on Let’s Dance since the show began,” she said. Llambi also compared Ermakova’s dancing talent to performances in foreign versions of “Let’s Dance”, such as the original show in England, which he says he also watches. “You’ve been world class every night here,” he stated.
Ermakova didn’t need the bonus point that the model had danced for herself in the previous show to get ahead. Nevertheless, she was very touched by it, emphasized the 23-year-old. “That people like and support me so much – I’m very, very grateful.” After the departure of Kraus and Güngörmüs, there are still seven celebrities on show eight next week.
