The surprising news of the separation from Kevin Costner (68) and his wife Christine Baumgartner (49) caused a stir. After 18 years, the two filed for divorce. It’s the second time a long-term marriage has ended for the famous actor. How expensive will the divorce proceedings be for the father of seven this time?

After all, the actor is one of the wealthiest stars in Hollywood. His net worth is currently estimated at around 250 million dollars (around 226 million euros), which he not only owes to major film projects such as “Dances With Wolves” (1990), “Robin Hood – King of Thieves” (1991) or “Bodyguard” (1992). Costner also owns an impressive real estate portfolio.

He owns a 160-hectare property in Aspen, Colorado – including three houses by the lake, each of which is said to have room for 30 people. He is said to have paid around $7.3 million for the third house in 2017. Costner is said to be renting out his luxury ranch for $36,000 a night.

In addition, Costner made a mega deal with British oil company BP when the Gulf of Mexico oil spill hit in 2010: he sold 32 machines for cleaning the contaminated water that he had developed together with his brother, a scientist. A profit of 52 million US dollars (about 47 million euros) is said to have come around.

But Costner still earns above average in front of the camera. Since 2018 he has been playing the leading role in the television series “Yellowstone” – he is said to be currently getting $ 1.5 million (about 1.35 million euros) per episode, reports the “Daily Mail”.

But if you have a lot, you can also lose a lot. Costner should have become aware of this during his first divorce in 1994. After 16 years, his marriage to Cindy Silva broke up. The two are said to have met and fallen in love in college. Their love also led to their three children together, Annie (39), Lily (36) and Joe (35). But because of an alleged affair on the film set of “Waterworld”, Cindy is said to have drawn a line at the time. In a court settlement, she was awarded 80 million US dollars (about 72 million euros).

Shortly after the breakup, Costner began a short liaison with heiress Bridget Rooney, from whom his son Liam (27) comes. The actor is said to have paid a further seven million dollars (about 6.3 million euros) for his child.

Now Costner has divorce proceedings ahead of him again. According to the US website “TMZ”, Christine Baumgartner is said to have given “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the separation. For the three children Cayden (15), Hayes (14) and Grace (12), both have therefore demanded joint custody. Costner and Baumgartner married in 2004 in Aspen, Colorado.

According to Costner’s attorney, Laura Wasser, the actor doesn’t face any financial drama this time around. Baumgartner is said not to have asked for maintenance. There would also be a marriage contract, through which the finances should be clearly divided between the two.
