Before appearing in the science fiction film “Passengers” (2016), actress Jennifer Lawrence (32) was advised by pop star Adele (34) not to act in the strip. “Adele told me not to do it. She was like, ‘I feel like space movies are the new vampire movies.’ I should have listened to her,” Lawrence told the New York Times.

The romantic space drama starring Chris Pratt (43) and directed by “The Imitation Game” director Morten Tyldum (55) received miserable reviews. The film is considered one of Lawrence’s lowest-rated works. “Passengers” caused dismay among her fans, according to the Oscar winner. She has often referred to the flick as a “hiccup” in her career.

In “Passengers,” Lawrence and Pratt play two hibernating humans aboard a spacecraft transporting thousands of people to a colony 60 light-years from Earth. The story revolves around the relationship between the two characters after they are accidentally awakened from their destination 90 years early.

“I didn’t deliver in the quality that I should have delivered,” Lawrence told Vanity Fair back in 2021 about movies like Passengers that made her withdraw from the spotlight. “I just think everyone’s had enough of me. I was fed up with myself. It just got to a point where I couldn’t do anything right. When I walked a red carpet, I was like, ‘Why is Didn’t they run away?'”

After a hiatus from acting, Lawrence returned to the big screen in Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up last year. The star-studded Netflix satire, while also getting mixed reviews, fared much better. Most recently, the 32-year-old starred in the drama “Causeway,” which airs November 4 on Apple TV.
