“West Side Story” star Rachel Zegler can be seen as a young fighter Lucy Gray Baird from District 12, her mentor Coriolanus Snow, who later becomes the tyrannical President Snow, is played by British actor Tom Blyth (“Benediction”).

“It’s my honor to introduce you personally to the creator of The Hunger Games,” Davis says in the trailer in her role as Gamemaker Volumnia Gaul, before Dinklage enters the picture. She asks young Snow if he sees “how quickly our fear of being prey turns us into predators”. “Euphoria” star Hunter Schafer can also be seen in the trailer, and Jason Schwartzman (“Marie Antoinette”) introduces himself in the clip as “the very first presenter of the Hunger Games”.

The first four films from the fictional world called Panem grossed around three billion dollars worldwide from 2012 to 2015. In it, Jennifer Lawrence played the character Katniss Everdeen, who is forced by a totalitarian regime under power-hungry leader Snow (Donald Sutherland) to fight to the death against youth from other counties. The new film, which like its predecessors is based on novels by Suzanne Collins, is set 64 years before these events.

“The Panem Tributes – The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” is scheduled to hit German cinemas on November 16.
