The remake of “Blade” about the vampire killer of the same name planned by Marvel Studios has been delayed for quite a while. Originally, the two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (48) should have put an end to the bloodsuckers from November 3, 2023. However, as the industry website “The Hollywood Reporter” reports, the start date has been pushed back by around ten months – September 6, 2024 is said to have been chosen.

This news comes as no surprise. Just two weeks ago, the film studio and the project’s then-designate director, Bassam Tariq (35), went their separate ways in terms of directing. Due to delays in the production process due to ongoing script changes, the filmmaker’s schedule ultimately overlapped and he was no longer able to shoot “Blade”. He’s not quite out of the loop, though, and Tariq will continue to serve as one of the flick’s executive producers.

The film was therefore already in pre-production in Atlanta, and shooting for “Blade” should have started this November. It is now hoped that production will resume at the beginning of next year. At the same time, however, the studio is careful not to rush the search for a new director.

But “Blade” isn’t the only upcoming Marvel blockbuster that fans will have to wait longer than originally thought. The third “Deadpool” film, for which Hugh Jackman (53) turns into Wolverine again, will be postponed from September 6, 2024 to November 8, 2024. The “Fantastic Four” also land a few months later – the new start date is February 14, 2025 (instead of November 8, 2024).

A big and understandable adjustment: “Avengers: Secret Wars” was postponed from November 7, 2025 to May 1, 2026. This is understandable because the strip “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” is still announced for May 2, 2025. Without the postponement, two “Avengers” films would have been released within half a year, now they are almost exactly a year apart to the day.
