“Fat” became “enormous”, “small men” became “small people” and a secretary became a business woman. Just three of the many changes editors have made to Roald Dahl’s children’s books. They should soften the old language and make it more sensitive. But the publisher’s decision has caused controversy. Among other things, it is about Dahl’s works “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, “Matilda” or “Hexen Hexen”.
