US choreographer and model Bruce Darnell (65) became a star in Germany with the TV show “Germany’s next top model”. Various other jury appearances followed, including in “Supertalent” (RTL), commercials and, from time to time, smaller roles in TV films and series. At Easter he throws a colorful party over the roofs of the Canadian metropolis in “Dream Ship: Vancouver” (April 9, 8:15 p.m., ZDF).
But his fans don’t have to wait that long for a reunion, because the early evening series “Hotel Mondial” also relies on him. In the episode “Father’s Joy” (March 22, 7:25 p.m., ZDF), he plays a guest at the luxury hotel in Schwerin who, with the help of the hotel staff, is looking for a romantic gift for his husband on their wedding anniversary. In an interview with spot on news, the popular American reveals what was the most romantic gift he ever received. He also reveals his personal hotel criteria and talks about his future acting plans.
Bruce Darnell: I like staying in hotels. A friendly service is very important to me and that I can feel at home. The rooms should be inviting and I want to feel as comfortable there as I do at home. And I also appreciate a good bed.
Darnell: I actually always have my own pillow from home. It is a piece of security that I carry with me and that is important to me.
Darnell: I don’t really have a favorite hotel, but in Germany I always like to check into the Hyatt Regency in Cologne and the Bayerischer Hof in Munich. I feel very comfortable in both houses and the service is excellent.
Darnell: I really enjoy it and it challenges me to step into other roles and try myself. I also really like the industrious and respectful atmosphere on the film sets. I could imagine being in front of the camera more often for TV films in the near future.
Darnell: A very romantic gift was a trip to New York for me. That was a long time ago, I was very touched and I still remember it very fondly.
Darnell: I exercise regularly and go running. The most important thing is that I also enjoy the sport. It’s not about how hard you train or how hard you get ready, it’s about enjoying the movement. This is good for both the body and the mind and keeps you fit.
Darnell: I don’t have any forbidden foods. I eat healthy, but I also eat things like cake, chips and chocolate. But I don’t smoke, don’t drink coffee and very rarely alcohol.
